Minst seks Taliban-terrorister utkledt som sikkerhetsvakter har stormet en militærdrevet skole i Peshawar i Pakistan og tatt lærere og elever som gisler. Minst fem elever skal være drept, melder BBC.

Taliban sier aksjonen er en gjengjeldelse for hærens offensiv mot dem i Waziristan.

Paradoksalt nok foregikk det et førstehjelpskurs i ett av auditoriene på skolen da angrepet fant sted. Elevene fikk bruk for kunnskapen på stedet.

Hæren har omringet skolen.

A Taliban spokesman told the BBC the assault was in response to army operations against the militants.

Hundreds of Taliban fighters are thought to have died in a recent military operation in North Waziristan and the nearby Khyber area.

A school worker and a student interviewed by the local Geo TV station said the attackers had entered the Army Public School’s auditorium, where a military team was conducting first-aid training for students.

More than 20 students and teachers have been taken to a nearby hospital in Peshawar.
